Applique! Kind of...

I've got quite a few friends that are having babies in the near future, so I figured I need to "make" something special for their little ones. I've always thought the onesies with applique on them were super cute, but thought they would be very difficult to make. Well I attempted them recently and surprisingly they were very easy. I am to lazy to order any fusible webbing for things of the sort, so I just pinned the pattern on to the shirt. Now i'm not sure if it's easier or more difficult than doing it with the webbing. Maybe when we go statesides i'll try it out. Next i'm going to try to make a monster or owl.  For the tie pattern, it's free hand and to sew it in place I used a bigger zig zag stitch. Try it out, I promise it's easier then you might think.

My First Post...

Sewing? What? That's for old people. I mean why would I want to waste my time sewing an outfit together when I can just go out and buy one... Duh!
Well obviously I changed my tune. It all started with a baby blanket for may daughter, then an advent calendar (which if I would have just bought the dang thing, it would have been cheaper), and then I bought my sewing machine. I like to think of my sewing as a healthy addiction (is there such a thing?). I absolutely love it! My favorite out of it all is the fabric... Oh I could get into so much trouble. I love the entire process of it, the measuring, the cutting, the ironing, the folding, the pinning, and of course the sewing. The majority of what I've learned has been from the internet, but also some friends near by for that quick last minute question. The majority of my projects are free hand, make them up as I go. I've done a few with patterns from online, and those tend to be a bit more easier to do. So far I've only made toddler clothes, mostly for my beautiful monster of a daughter. Maybe in the future I'll try some quilting, I've had some request for those :) So hopefully with my blog, others can learn from what I've learned, see what works and what doesn't, and enjoy the creations I make!
